The Wendy’s of Montana Foundation has elected to grant ZooMontana $10,000 to support the Zoo’s education program EdZoocate. The monies granted will be utilized to grow the current programming, allowing Zoo staff to conduct more programs with better materials while providing funds for program sustainability.
The goal of ZooMontana is to use the education program as a means to improve science literacy in collaboration with local school districts while promoting environmental stewardship by providing an appreciation and a hands-on understanding of the local ecosystem and the role of humans in it. Zoo Director Jeff Ewelt was honored to receive the gift. “This grant will allow ZooMontana the opportunity to provide an educational program to local area schools that will give children the opportunity to learn the true fundamentals of science education while simultaneously improving their science literacy” Ewelt said.
Wendy’s of Montana has been a long time supporter of ZooMontana’s education programs. This year, the quick service restaurant chain will also be a major sponsor of the Zoo’s Family Fun Day, set for Sunday, July 20. Admission will only be $2 for all ages, all day.
