ZooMontana to Host Montana Renaissance Festival

Largest Festival of its Kind in Montana to be Held June 3rd and 4th

BILLINGS, MT - The 2017 Montana Renaissance Festival at ZooMontana continues to grow and promises to be bigger and better than ever this year. The festival will be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 10am to 6pm and on Sunday, June 4th from 10am to 4pm. Once again, ZooMontana will be transformed into a magical world where Knights, Lords, Ladies, and Fairies play. Guests can revel in the atmosphere of a 16th Century European Country Festival, explore the bustling market place, mingle and interact with costumed characters, and enjoy endless merriment and mayhem.

The marketplace lanes will be bustling with story tellers, musicians, singers, dancers, and villagers. The air will be filled with the scents and smells of foods from the Renaissance period and guests will be able to feast like Royalty on juicy roasted turkey legs, royal Scottish eggs, steak on a stick and more.  Pubs will be on hand to quench visitor’s thirst with a flagon of ale or a goblet of the King’s own mead. There will be various performers on stages throughout the Zoo including belly dancers, sword fighters, armored jousters, wizards, poets and more. Alterna Cirque will also be back with their dazzling aerial displays.

Royal Weddings will be performed in the majestic sensory garden amidst the tranquil flowing waters and breathtaking flora.  Ceremonies will be performed by Lady Wendy of Uniquely You Planning and include a hand fasting ceremony with chord and will evoke romance and the era of the Renaissance.  Royal Weddings must be scheduled in advanced by calling Lady Wendy at 406-850-1879.

This year, the Yellowstone Highland Games will join the Festival on Saturday, June 3rd from 9am to 3pm in the Zoo’s Bison Field.  Visitor will enjoy cheering on athletes as they take part in Scottish and Irish heavy athletic competitions.  The Caledonian Pipes and Drums of Billings will be performing at the opening ceremony followed by a Farmer’s Carry, open to anyone up to the challenge, in the ZooPlaza at 12:30.
