Voters in Yellowstone County did not pass a general fund mill levy increase May 3.

There are approximately 16-thousand students in the district and the levy would have provided 1.5-million to fund a career technology career program for high school students.

The results were 36.44% in favor of the mill level increase and 62.95% against it.

It would have cost the homeowner $6.65 per $100,000. It’s not clear if it will affect the current operations budget or if employee positions will be eliminated but it’s generally understood the money would have only been used for boosting career counseling within the district.

A mill levy was passed in 2019 by Yellowstone county voters.
