Montana is officially seeing the highest gas prices in the state’s history with the average now $4.21 per gallon. According to gas is being sold by numerous stations for $4.19 as of May 10, 2022.

According to AAA, the average gas price in the U.S. was $4.37 per gallon on Tuesday. Diesel prices also hit a record $5.55 per gallon.

The rising prices may mean a change in summer vacation plans as the inflation rates hit a 40-year high in March.

Analysts had predicted the prices would spike and then have a slow but consistent trend downward. But, the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy said this week  “There’s little hope, if any, good news about fuel prices heading into summer.”

Patrick De Han added the prices may become worse if there’s a natural disaster during hurricane season.

Taking the whole family on vacation can be expensive. Factor in airfare, hotels or home rentals, even campgrounds, plus food and supplies — and maybe a house sitter or pet sitter while you are away — and it all adds up fast.

The good news is this can be an opportunity to spend more quality time with your family enjoying simple pleasures planning a ‘Staycation.’

Camping is a favorite staycation idea for families because it’s affordable, it’s a great way to unplug, and it’s a fun way to connect with your loved ones.

If you don’t live close to a campsite, you can even go camping in your backyard. The idea is to enjoy the people in your life not just a destination.

Going to the movie theatres can be expensive. If you’re trying to save money, why not enjoy a movie night at home? This can be a fun staycation idea at home.

In fact, there are many fun staycation ideas if you are considering changing up your summer vacation plans this summer.
