Billings MT- The Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale to hold special auditions for Substitute Assistant Concertmaster and Substitutes for all sections. All sub-only auditions will be held online only and will remain open until filled.

A Substitute Assistant Concertmaster is needed for two concerts during the 2019-2020 season. The first concert is Saturday, November 2, 2019. The Substitute Assistant Concertmaster must attend all services (10/29, 10/31, 11/1, 11,2). The Orchestra will be performing Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, and Chausson’s Poéme. The second concert is Saturday, April 18, 2020. The Substitute Assistant Concertmaster must attend all services (4/14, 4/16, 4/17, 4/18). The Orchestra will be performing Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 and Piano Concerto No. 2, and Mozart’s Clemenzo di Tito Overture.

The 2019-2020 service rates for the Substitute Assistant Concertmaster position are as follows: $80/service; travel stipend (.42/mile or airfare reimbursement up to $400 upon receipt) and lodging (usually homestay) for out-of-town musician. No per diem is provided. Musician is responsible for their own ground transportation and meals.

Sub-only auditions for all instruments are encouraged. The BSO&C especially needs Section Cello and Section Bass throughout the season.
