How would you recommend someone spend their first night in Billings? That’s one of the features included in the new website, BetteroffinBillings.org. It was revealed at Better Off In Billings Event at the Billings Depot on April 20th. The site is a joint venture between Big Sky Economic Development and local design firm Graphic Finesse.
The site was created as a tool to help new residents acclimate to living in Billings. Housed at the site is a Mover’s Guide, which has information on Billing’s Neighborhoods, how to set up utilities, and other useful knowledge. The site also has a way to contact a Billings Ambassadors. These are people in the community who can answer questions prospective residents may have about the city.
One of the most in-depth resources on the site is a recruiter’s toolkit. This toolkit has infographics, videos, and other promotional resources that employers can use to attract talent. These resources and the Better Off in Billings Branding are free to use for all Billings employers.
The Better Off In Billings brand was started in 2016 by Big Sky Economic Development as a way to build awareness around Billings. It was a sub-brand of Billings Works, a different collaboration designed to build out the local workforce. In fall of 2019 three Better Off In Billings talent attraction videos were made.
After things opened back up in 2021, Marcell Bruski and Karli Baker were tasked with re-vamping Better Off In Billings. They recruited the help of Aaron Waller and Genia Castro Waller of Graphic Finesse for this new website.
Currently the site is accepting submissions of photos, blog posts, and any content that would be useful to new residents. The development team is hoping the site can also be a resource of community pride, an easy way to show the great parts of Billings.
