The Billings Public Library shows off their nerdy side by celebrating all fandoms during the first Geek out! Library Con Saturday April 23.

The press release sent out says activities include a Q&A panel with local authors and game masters where guests can chat with them and ask questions. Crooked Line Studio is also doing a live art demonstration and a take & make people can participate in.

The event also will include replicas of famous TV cars, green screen photos, and displayed one-of-a-kind collectibles. There will also be a costume contest towards the end of the event where three winners will receive a Visa gift card. The first place winner will receive a 75 dollar gift card, second place receives a fifty dollar gift card and third place receives a 25 dollar gift card.

Special guests include the 501st Legion, a Star Wars costume organization and the Montana Chapter of Mandalorian Mercs costume club. The Society For Creative Anachronism. All groups will be available for photos and demos as well.

Other guests include DeLorean Club of Montana, This House of Books, and countless local authors and game masters.

Billings Public Library has been putting on events like these for six years covering fandoms such as Stranger Things, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and many more!

Carla Nordlund, reference librarian at the Billings Public Library, says that the library has received great responses from community members in events they have had in the past. She also says turnouts for previous events have consisted of up to 100 people for one event. In the past, the library had a Harry Potter Day that had a turnout of several hundred people.

This is the first year all fandoms have been combined into one single event. Guests can show off costumes, explore art demonstrations, makeup tutorials and more! Visitors can also stop by Stompin’ Grounds Cafe in the library to grab a coffee or tasty treat while enjoying the event.
