The children’s section at the Billings Public Library is now officially open to the public again after a pipe leak in the area last Monday. The press release says replacing the damaged books and items may take several months and appreciates everyone’s patience.
Now that the children’s section is open, the library is excited about the upcoming events for kids this summer! They are currently gearing up for the summer reading program starting June 6. The program is an excellent way for kids to read over the summer, with chances to win special prizes for reading activities and challenges. Registration is required, so sign your kiddos up sooner rather than later. Make sure to log their time in to keep track of their reading over the summer!
Another exciting children’s event happening at the library this summer is the first annual Montana Kid Lit Festival from June 8-11. The three-day event celebrates children’s literature with opportunities to meet local authors and illustrators across Montana. Parents can also pick up supplies for a kid’s take and make craft of a moving paper fish on June 13, available for pickup at the children’s desk in the library. No registration is needed, and supplies come on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Adventures in Story Time program for toddlers is back on June 14 and happens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Toddlers can explore tons of interactive activities based on a theme. The program helps little ones build letter awareness and other reading readiness skills.
