After a temporary pause, construction for Montana Department of Transportation’s 56th roundabouts: King and Central project has started again.

According to the press release, construction on the intersection of King Avenue and 56th Street West starts on Monday, July 25, with partial closures alternating between each lane of the intersection. A full closure begins in mid-August and is expected to last for 30 days.

Construction crews stopped construction for the project to help repair roads and bridges damaged by the June flooding event.

The first half of the 56 roundabouts is nearly complete. Drivers can now use the roundabout on Central Avenue and 56th Avenue West. Grass Seeding and roadway striping for this roundabout will happen in hte fall of 2022.

The 56th roundabouts: King and Central project will help improve traffic and safety in west Billings by constructing single-lane roundabouts for the two intersections. The project is expected to be finished by the winter of 2022.

Traffic control measures are implemented at both intersections. Respect all road closures and drive carefully in work zones. Stay alert for crew members near the roadway.
