Christmas time can produce a lot of extra waste, with gift-giving, loved ones in town, and big holiday feasts. The Solid Waste Division of Billings Public Works is responding to this by offering “Extras” Garbage Collection the week of December 26, 2022.
According to the press release, the extra garbage collection is only offered for one week for Christmas garbage that does not fit in the black garbage cart. Here’s how to do it: bag or box up all the extra trash and set them outside before 7 am. On Monday, December 26, garbage collection starts on schedule. The Billings Landfill will also be open to anyone who wants to drop off any excess garbage. In observance of Christmas, all city offices in Billings are closed. City offices are also closed on January 2 to observe New Year’s Day.
Garbage collection will resume on schedule on January 2, and the Billings landfill will also be open for anyone who wishes to use it. For those who have Thursday as their regular garbage day, set your extra garbage out on Thursday, December 29, instead of Monday. Monthly extras collection resumes January 2, 2023.
Team members of the Solid Waste Division will do their best to get to as many areas of Billings as possible the week of December 26. They may not get to everyone on time, depending on how many extras they need to pick up. Contact the Solid Waste division for those whose extras are not collected on their regular garbage day by calling 406-657-8285.
Enjoy the holiday season surrounded by loved ones, and remember to have a happy new year!
