Montanans affected by the June flooding and severe storms have until August 29 to apply for FEMA individual disaster assistance. The press release from FEMA and Montana DES said two disaster recovery centers are open to help with applications. The following lists two locations of recovery centers:

    • Open Monday – Friday from 9 am to 4 pm

Homeowners and renters applying for FEMA assistance can do so online, on the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 800-621-3362.

As of Tuesday, FEMA has approved over 2 million dollars in assistance for households and individuals. The National Flood Insurance Program received 103 claims and had paid more than three million dollars. The Small Bussiness Association (SBA) has approved more than seven million dollars in disaster loans. 

Renters and homeowners are also advised to submit an SBA disaster loan application, which could help cover losses not compensated by insurance. If their application is not approved, most cases are referred to FEMA’s Other Needs Assistance, which could help with additional assistance. The deadline to submit SBA applications for physical property damages is August 29. The deadline for economic injury applications is March 30, 2023.

Business Recovery Centers (BRC) are also operating where SBA representatives can talk with applicants and offer help applying for low-interest disaster loans. These BRCs are available in three Park County locations:

Applicants can apply online on SBA’s website or call the Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955.

Residents in Yellowstone County can apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance by calling 406-444-3454 anywhere from 9 am to 4 pm. The deadline for Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Free Disaster Legal Services is now available for Montanans by calling 888-743-5749.

Farmers and ranchers affected can apply for assistance from the Montana Farm Service Agency’s Emergency Conservation program. Deadlines for applications are September 2. Residents dealing with agricultural loss can contact Kami Kraus at 406-351-8016 or their county’s local Farm Service Agency.
