As part of the Caring in Action Project, United Way of Yellowstone County (UWYC) is hosting Sockotberfest for the month of October. The press release says the event aims to help benefit community members needing socks with winter approaching.

Kelsie Vertlin with United Way of Yellowstone County says Socktoberfest was originally held yearly, but after hte COVID-19 pandemic, it became difficult to do. After this year,  UWYC hopes it becomes a yearly event once again.

The Caring in Action Project is a series of community-based projects done throughout the year. The projects are done through volunteers, companies, service groups, and anyone who wants to help in their community. The projects are similar to the Day of Caring Event, which was hard to pinpoint a day that would fit everyone’s schedule.

Actions like Socktoberfest are just one effort to help members of the community. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to ensure your neighbors have access to new socks during the cold winter months by donating a pair of clean, new socks today!

Donations can be dropped off at the United Way Office in Billings at 2173 Overland Drive, open from 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday. Socks will be distributed and sorted through in November. Online cash donations can be made here or through the Amazon Smiles Account.
