Billings Police Department provides information on Custer Avenue homicide

On 10/06/2020 at about 7:37 PM, Officers with the Billings Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to the 1300 block of Custer Avenue for a reported shooting. Upon Officers arrival, they located a 32 year old Billings man, deceased with a gunshot wound.

A 30 year old male from Billings, was detained at the scene and identified as the shooter. Initial information indicates a physical altercation occurred between both males prior to the shooting. Both men live on the same block and the shooting occurred in front of 30 year old male’s residence.
Investigators recovered two (2) handguns at the scene, one belonging to each of the males involved. The 30 year old male was detained, questioned, and released. At this time, no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains on-going and is being handled by our investigations division. The name manner of death will be released by the County Coroner.
