BILLINGS, Mont. – For 14 years, Brewer Dental Center’s “Dentistry from the Heart” event has warmed the hearts and brightened the smiles of 4,425 Billings-area adults and children – even on the chilliest of February mornings.
The 15th annual “Dentistry from the Heart” is set for Saturday, Feb. 15, at BDC’s West End location; 2900 Central Ave., Building 1, starting at 5:30 a.m. Each year, patients bundle up and get in line early for a first come, first served treatment – a free cleaning, filling or simple extraction.
Since “Dentistry from the Heart” was launched, BDC has provided over $1.5 million in free dental care. Last year, 313 patients received care worth $107,411.
BDC partners with many businesses and local organizations that help make the day successful. Dozens of dentists, hygienists, staff and volunteers donate their time for this annual Valentine-season event.
“We know that basic dental care is out of reach for many in our community,” said Dr. Russell Homer, BDC dentist and co-owner. “Our staff and all our volunteers look forward to giving back to our community in this way. ‘Dentistry from the Heart’ truly is our favorite day of the year.”
He said that one third of people in the community don’t have dental insurance and half of them never visit a dentist. That’s why this annual day of free dental treatment is so important and anticipated for many in the community.
