On 4/29/2020 at approximately 1905 hours officers from the Billings Police Department responded to a disturbance in the area of 5 St W and Clark. It was reported someone was beating another person in the back seat of the vehicle described as a white Chevy truck. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at King Ave E and Orchard. The vehicle fled and got onto I-90 westbound.
Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Department and Montana Highway Patrol located the truck and it fled from them as well. The vehicle turned around on I-90 and went eastbound back towards Billings. Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Department attempted to spike the tires and the truck swerved into the barrow pit striking the cable median causing the damage and tires to deflate. The truck continued to flee into the city limits and Montana Highway Patrol conducted a pit maneuver on the suspect vehicle at 2 Ave N and N 19 St.
The suspect driver, Identified as Terry Slater of Lodge Grass, bailed and ran on foot but was quickly apprehended by police. The victim in the back seat was transported to a local hospital for injuries by AMR. The Billings Police Department Detective Division was called out to investigate other criminal allegations involving the vehicle. The driver, Terry Slater, will be charged with several counts of felony criminal endangerment and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
