On 11/23/2019 at about 4:48 PM, a Honda Accord passenger car travelling North collided with a utility van travelling North on South 32nd Street West. The rear end collision occurred in the northbound lanes about 100 yards north of the crest of the hill and ditch. The Accord was driven by a 19 year old male with three (3) male passenger’s ages 18, 18, and 20, (all from Billings). The utility van was driven by a 53 year old Billings man. There were no injuries.
Approximately ten (10) minutes later, at about 4:58 PM, an Acura TSX travelling South in the southbound lane on South 32nd West was struck by a Chevy Uplander travelling south in the southbound lane. This rear end collision occurred in the area of the previous north bound collision. After the collision, the Acura proceeded South on South 32nd W and collided head on with a GMC Yukon travelling North in the northbound lane near the entrance to City Towing.
The driver of the Chevy Uplander, an 83 year old female from Billings, was not injured. The driver of the GMC Yukon, a 17 year old male from Billings, and a 15 year old female passenger from Billings, were not injured.
The driver of the Honda Acura, a 29 year old female from Billings, and three (3) child passengers were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The children’s ages are two (2) five (5) year old males and one (1) six (6) year old female. All from Billings.
One (1) of the five (5) year old males died in a Salt Lake City hospital yesterday afternoon from injuries related to the crash. Identification of the deceased is pending autopsy.
All three (3) collisions are being investigated by the BPD’s serious injury / fatal crash investigations team. At this time, no additional investigative details will be released. Nor will we be providing any medical status updates unless there is another related death.
At this time, there have been no citations or arrests made in any of the three (3) collisions. The investigation remains active and on-going.
