Billings Police Department provides update on fleeing vehicle that injured multiple people

Billings Area Highlights

On 4/23/2020 at approximately 1752 the Billings Police Department responded to an injury accident at S. Billings Blvd and Stone St.  Prior to this incident, the suspect vehicle was involved in an accident at Collier Rd and Blue Creek.  The suspect fled from that location and continued to drive towards Billings.  The suspect reached the construction zone on S. Billings Blvd and ran over a construction worker.  The suspect fled that scene as well.  At S. Billings Blvd and Stone the suspect ran over the school zone sign, crossed the median and went head on into a green Mazda passenger car and a blue GMC Denali.  The suspect continued to flee and struck a power pole.  The suspect stopped and attempted to flee the vehicle but was apprehended by deputies from the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office. 

The victims have serious injuries but appear to be non-life threatening.  They were transported by AMR to local hospitals. 

The suspect was also transported to a local hospital, the name is not being released at this time until formally charged.

The Montana Highway Patrol and Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accidents that occurred in the construction zone and Blue Creek.  The Billings Police Department Crash Investigation Team is investigating the accident on S. Billings and Stone St. 

S. Billings Blvd by Newman Elementary will be temporarily closed while the accident is being investigated. 

Montana Highway Patrol, Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, Billings Police Department, Billings Fire Department, AMR, and Northwestern Energy all responded.
