Billings Police Department provides update on Nash Lane homicide, attempted homicide and attempted kidnapping

On 09/21/2020 at about 4:23 AM, Officers with the Billings Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Nash Lane for a physical disturbance with shots fired.

Upon arrival they located a 43 year old male from Roundup, in the backyard, with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was transported by ambulance to a local medical facility where he died.

Officers identified the shooter as a 34 year old male from Billings, who lived at the residence where this incident occurred. Additionally, Officers identified a 33 year old female from Roundup, with injuries sustained from being assaulted by the deceased.

Preliminary investigative information indicates the deceased was in a relationship with the 33 year old female, who was staying in another building on the property. Prior to the shooting, the deceased drove from Roundup to the residence on Nash, where he assaulted, strangled, pistol whipped, and tried to force the female to leave with him. When he put a handgun to the head of the 33 year old female he was shot by the 34 year old male who resided there.

No arrests have been made. The investigation remains on-going and is being handled by our Detectives Division. The coroner’s office will release the name of the deceased. At this time, no additional details will be released.
