Billings Police Department releases information on Custer Avenue shooting

On 08/05/2020 at about 5:02 PM, Officers with the Billings Police Department (BPD) were dispatched to the 1100 block of Custer Avenue for a reported shooting involving the exchange of gunfire between a person associated with a residence on Custer Ave and a sport utility vehicle driving by.

Officers arrived in the area and surrounded the residence where one of the shooters went inside. After several minutes of commands and communication by police, a 26 year old Billings man identified as Paul Underwood surrendered peacefully without incident.

Underwood was remanded at YCDF for five (5) counts of Felony Criminal Endangerment and several warrants. No other arrests or charges have been made. Police continue to investigate the involvement of the sport utility vehicle. There have been no reported injuries associated with the shooting. Police do not believe the incident to be a random act of violence and likely an association of some type between shooters.

The investigation is ongoing.
