Billings Public Library will host a talk and book signing with Juliet Cutler, author of the memoir Among the Maasai on September 26th, 2019. The program will be at the Billings Public Library Community Room at 7:00 pm and is free and open to the public.
Twenty years ago, Juliet Cutler left Billings to teach at the first school for Maasai girls in East Africa, beginning a lifelong journey to empower girls through education. She will be discussing her memoir of this experience, focusing on the transformative power of education for girls in Tanzania, and hosting a book signing. The book will be available for purchase; proceeds will support education for at-risk Maasai girls.
Juliet Cutler is a writer, an educator, and a designer of award-winning exhibits for museums, parks, and cultural centers throughout the world. Her teaching career began in Tanzania in 1999, and since that time she has been an advocate for empowering at-risk girls through education. Cutler grew up in Billings, graduating from Billings West High School in 1992. She holds an MA in English from Colorado State University and a BS in education from the University of North Dakota.
