The Billings Public Library in cooperation with the Montana State Library invites the public to a hands-on workshop to introduce the participants to Montana Land Information and the State’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The workshop will be held Wednesday, November 6 from 5:30-7:00 pm at the Billings Public Library Community Room. It will cover the following topics:
- How to search property information
- Exploring maps
- Identify land ownership
Attendees will be able to ask specific questions about searching land information in Montana, as well as practice the concepts they learn with guidance from Montana State Library staff. Although not required, attendees are asked to bring a wifi-enabled laptop in order to explore the websites.

This program is part of the Montana State Library’s GIS Coordination efforts, the goal of which is to create a strong foundation of GIS knowledge, partnerships, spatial data infrastructure, land information, and data sharing tools to empower local, state, tribal, and federal government staff as well as private, nonprofit, university systems, and the general public.
