LOCATION: 1926 Mullowney Lane, Trailer #48

On 12/11/2019 at about 1:00 PM, members of the Billings Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) and US Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force located DARREN WHITEMAN, a 36 year old male from Billings, at 1923 Mullowney lane trailer #48.

Whiteman had a valid $250,000 felony robbery warrant related to the robbery at the Gas & Go (19-86182) on 11/24/2019, where a 25 year old female victim was shot in the arm.

While officers were surveilling the area numerous people exited the trailer and started to get into a vehicle to leave. Officers approached to make contact and all the subjects fled into trailer #48. Due to the violent nature of the offense and past use of weapons, officers secured the perimeter and called out the occupants of the trailer. Several occupants of the trailer complied with officer’s commands and came out. Whiteman did not comply nor did he respond to or acknowledge officers commands in any way.

The Billings Police Department SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation team responded along with assistance from the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office TRT team. Extensive negotiation attempts to contact and communicate with Whiteman failed with no response. Tactical operations were conducted and Whiteman was safely taken into custody at approximately 5:00 PM. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

Whiteman is in custody at YCDF. Please obtain any additional details from charging documents. There were no other arrests and all other persons were released.
