MDT proposes a pavement preservation project for Airport Road in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN, Montana (September 4, 2019) – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to seal and cover about 1.38 miles of Airport Road, in Lewistown, MT, Fergus County.

The project begins at the intersection of Main St. and Airport Road and extends southeasterly for 1.38 miles ending near the airport terminal.

Proposed work includes dugout’s, crack sealing, and applying a seal and cover (chip seal). The project will also receive upgraded pavement markings and guardrail. 

The purpose of the project is to preserve and extend the life of the existing asphalt surfacing and to improve the safety of the roadway for the traveling public.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in spring of 2021, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations will be needed.

An important part of properly planning for the future is partnering with the community. Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
